Welcome to Quantum Leap Therapy
My name is Marilyn Soghomonian and I offer Professional, Compassionate & Confidential Therapeutic Counselling in Reading Berkshire. I work one-to-one with adults over the age of 18. I’m also a Master Practitioner in Eating Disorders & Obesity and specialise in Weight Management, Anorexia, Bulimia, & Binge Eating Disorder. My Counselling training is Integrative, working predominantly with a person-centred and psychodynamic approaches to therapy. This simply means that we would work with what’s happening in your life right now or the ‘here and now’, as well as explore issues or relationships from your past which may be impacting your present life or relationships.
Most of us at one point or another may feel extremely stressed by life circumstances, when troubles, fears, and anxieties become too overwhelming; low moods or depression may leave us feeling helpless, anxious and alone. At times, we may feel there is no escape from our struggles, but with the right support and guidance we can regain control of our life and emotions. With the help and support of a professionally trained counsellor you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your relationships and your past experiences.
Counselling offers you the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings and gives you a sense of being deeply listened to, understood and accepted for who you truly are. Working with a counsellor can enable you to resolve any internal conflicts that prevent you from being your authentic self and to process any unresolved issues from your past.
The counselling relationship creates the right conditions for you to develop your self awareness, to gain insight and understanding which can lead to change and transformation. I aim to offer you a safe, private space to talk about your issues or difficulties in complete confidence, without being judged, allowing you to explore your life, relationships and emotions in much greater depth. Together we can work to identify and release any emotional ties that may be linked to your past which may be holding you back.
I believe you have the answers within you, that you know what’s best for you, so I would never give you advice or tell you what to do. You set the agenda and my role is to facilitate the changes you want to make. I respect your autonomy at all times and work at your own pace.
I offer both brief counselling, which is helpful where immediate help is needed to work through an immediate crisis, overwhelming stress, habits or life transitions such as loss, divorce, career change etc., and long term therapy for more common and complex mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma and eating disorders.
How can we work together?
I believe it’s important for you to feel comfortable and safe working with me as your therapist. For this reason, I offer a 30 minutes FREE consultation for you to get to know me before you make a decision whether you want to work with me. The initial consultation gives us the opportunity to discuss your current difficulties and goals for therapy, to raise any questions you may have, and to see whether we can work together. There will be no pressure for you to make a commitment at this stage, unless it feels right for you to do so.
